1. What are the benefits of prenatal ultrasound?
Ultrasounds have been proven to increase the bonding between Mom and her baby. Mom's who have "seen" their babies feel more connected to them and have a stronger sense of well-being/reassurance about their pregnancies. Ultrasounds typically result in an increased commitment to healthier prenatal behaviors such as improved diet and exercise as well as smoking cessation. Moms who are more relaxed about their pregnancies also tend to sleep better. Studies have also reported significant reductions in stress for Dad after seeing his baby with an ultrasound.
2. Do I need a note from my physician to schedule with MYULTRASOUND?
Yes. It is essential that you are under the care of an healthcare provider and that he/she knows that you have requested our services. Please have a nurse practioner, midwife or your physician complete our provider authorization form. We are an optional service and do not replace any element of your prenatal care. Your 3D/4D ultrasound session will include a limited evaluation to confirm heartbeat, the number of babies in the pregnancy and the position of the baby. If you have medical concerns, we urge you to notify your health care provider. Your OB/GYN, Midwife or nurse practitioner will be sent a copy of your 2D/3D/4D ultrasound report.
3. Does this take the place of my scheduled ultrasounds performed by my obstetrician, nurse practitioner or midwife?
No. Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with MYULTRASOUND Imaging Center must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care. Clients must have already undergone a medical, diagnostic ultrasound ordered by their provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and/or to look for any other pregnancy related issues. The 2D/3D/4D ultrasound sessions that we provide do not validate or provide any medical information. Our employees do not conduct diagnostic scans or provide any diagnostic information unless under the direction of your physician. However, if we are suspicious of an possible abnormality, your doctor will be notified.
